01

Start with the final price, not the percentage

A large percentage can distract from a higher base price, required annual term, shipping charge, or plan that includes more than you need. Put the discounted total beside the normal total and compare the same product, quantity, and billing period.

  • Confirm the exact item or plan is eligible.
  • Check whether the offer requires a minimum spend.
  • Look for shipping, service, activation, or setup fees.
  • Compare the final total with a competing store or product.
02

Read the eligibility rules

Many promotions apply only to new customers, first orders, selected products, one region, or a specific payment method. If the rule is unclear, treat the code as unconfirmed until the checkout total changes.

  • New customer or new account only
  • App-only, email-only, or membership-only
  • Excluded brands, bundles, sale items, or gift cards
  • Student, military, nonprofit, or professional verification
03

Check the clock without trusting countdown theater

Use an expiration date only when the merchant publishes one. A resettable countdown or urgency banner is not proof that a promotion ends that day. Save the offer page and note the time zone if a deadline matters.

04

Record what happened

Before paying, capture the product, subtotal, discount, shipping, taxes, and final amount. Do not share screenshots containing account numbers, payment details, addresses, or private tokens. If a code fails, remove it and compare legitimate alternatives rather than repeatedly submitting random variants.
